Welcome Address: Recognition Day

Our beloved Mayor Honorable Neil B. Credo, our very active DSWD Regional Director Mercidita P. Jabagat, our energetic Tesda Provincial Director Dr. Floro T. Ringca, the President and General Manager of Cebu Science of Welding and Skills Technology, Inc. Romelito H. Mantuhac, the CEO of Teamskills School for Culinary Arts & Hospitality Management Ariel C. Ronato, Chef Debbie Reanna Marie M. Limbaga of Teamskills, Commercial Cooking and Welding students, Guests, Ladies and Gentlemen, a pleasant morning.

Let me start my task today with a Chinese proverb: “Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day, teach him how to fish and you feed him for a lifetime”.

I am particularly honored to have been given this opportunity to welcome you all to this recognition day.

The Cash for Training program for shielded metal arc welding started March 13 up to April 27, 2013. This program also entitled the trainees an allowance.

Immediately thereafter, we had our Commercial Cooking training which started from May 9 to July 11, 2013.

Passers of both programs are entitled to receive a National Certificate 2 (NC 2), meaning this certificate is also recognized internationally.

We are happy and proud to dedicate this day in recognition of those who painstakingly attended the training.

We are honored to have with us today:

  • Our ever supportive Municipal Mayor, Hon. Neil B. Credo – Welcome Sir!
  • Our energetic Tesda Provincial Director, Dr. Floro T. Ringca – Welcome Sir!
  • The President and General Manager of Cebu Science of Welding and Skills Technology, Inc., Romelito H. Mantuhac – Welcome Sir!
  • The CEO of Teamskills School for Culinary Arts & Hospitality Management, Ariel C. Ronato  – Welcome Sir!
  • Chef Debbie Reanna Marie M. Limbaga of Teamskills – Welcome Chef!

Before I end, allow me to relate a very short story. There was this boy who was born to a poor family. He graduated from Dauin Elementary School and Dauin National High School where some or many of you also attended. He roamed this very same quadrangle. He played basketball in that very same court. Instead of going to college, he went to Manila to work as a bakery helper because their family was then financially challenged. Then, he was hired as a kitchen helper in Shangri-La washing dishes. To cut the story short, he is now an international pastry chef and he did not have an NC 2 like you.

You have been taught how to fish which is your skills training in commercial cooking and shielded metal arc welding. I hope you will use your newly acquired skills to become successful in life.

Once again, welcome everyone present.

I hope you will have a pleasant day. Thank you.
