Sweet Caramel

Two separate roads, separate destinations;
One going to the west and the other to the east;
One common certainty, the center of gravity;
A painful truth but a happy thought at journey’s end.

Beneath the smiles and laughter are sad faces;
Painted in yellow sunshine cloaking the rain;
A time machine calling the seven gods of fortune;
Wishing upon the star of Bethlehem once more.

Come with me to the ends of the world;
Of sweet caramel, flowing with milk and honey;
A promise never-ending, so it was written;
Apuleius’ metamorphoses about soul and love.
